How to Use TOZO VIZO Z1 Series AR Glasses with SteamVR

1. Preparation

1.1 Graphics Compatibility Requirements

SteamVR can run on systems with either integrated graphics (iGPU) or a dedicated graphics card (dGPU), but it does not support legacy motherboard-integrated graphics solutions.

Note: Integrated graphics have limited hardware performance and are only suitable for lightweight VR content. For the best experience, a dedicated graphics card is recommended.

1.2 Required Cable

The following users will need an additional active DisplayPort-to-USB-C adapter cable with dual external USB power connections (as shown in the illustration):

  1. Desktop PCs with a dedicated graphics card that does not support USB-C video output.
  2. Desktop PCs without a dedicated graphics card, where the motherboard's USB-C port does not support DisplayPort Alt Mode (DP Alt Mode).
  3. Laptops whose USB-C port does not support DP Alt Mode, or laptops that only provide a DisplayPort output.

Note: If your laptop has neither a USB-C port nor a DisplayPort output, it cannot be used with SteamVR.

2. Connect the Glasses to Your Computer

2.1 Desktop PC Users

(1) Dedicated Graphics Card with USB-C Video Output

Use the included USB-C cable and connect the glasses directly to the USB-C port on the graphics card.

(2) Dedicated Graphics Card without USB-C Video Output

Use an active DisplayPort-to-USB-C adapter cable. Connect the DisplayPort end to the graphics card and the USB connectors to the motherboard's USB ports.

(3) Integrated Graphics with Motherboard USB-C Video Output Support

Use the included USB-C cable and connect the glasses directly to the motherboard's USB-C port.

(4) Integrated Graphics without Motherboard USB-C Video Output Support

Use an active DisplayPort-to-USB-C adapter cable. Connect both the DisplayPort and USB connectors to the corresponding ports on the motherboard.

2.2 Laptop Users

(1) Laptop with USB-C Video Output

Use the included USB-C cable and connect the glasses directly to the laptop's USB-C port.

(2) Laptop without USB-C Video Output but with DisplayPort

Use an active DisplayPort-to-USB-C adapter cable. Connect the DisplayPort and USB connectors to the corresponding ports on the laptop.

3. Configure TOZO VIZO Driver and OpenTrack

3.1 Download TOZO VIZO Driver and OpenTrack

Download the TOZO VIZO Driver package, which includes OpenTrack:

3.2 Install TOZO VIZO Driver
Double-click "VIZO-Driver.exe" and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

3.3 Launch TOZO VIZO Driver

After launching TOZO VIZO Driver, OpenTrack will start automatically.

Do not close OpenTrack.

Follow the setup guide within the TOZO VIZO Driver to complete the required configuration.

3.4 Install Steam (If Not Already Installed)

If SteamVR is not installed, click the download link shown in the TOZO VIZO Driver and install Steam first.

If Steam is already installed, proceed directly to Step 4.

3.5 Install Steam
Open the Steam download page and click "Install Steam".

Note: In mainland China, a network accelerator may be required to access Steam services.

3.6 Install SteamVR
After installing Steam, create or sign in to your Steam account.

Search for SteamVR, then click "Play Game" to download and install SteamVR.

Note: In mainland China, a network accelerator may be required to access Steam services.

3.7 Verify SteamVR Installation
After SteamVR has been installed, click "Recheck" to confirm that SteamVR is successfully detected by the TOZO VIZO Driver.

4. Configure OpenTrack

4.1 Start OpenTrack

Click "Start" to run OpenTrack.

If OpenTrack has been closed, exit TOZO VIZO Driver completely and then restart it.

5. Start Playing

Once all setup steps are complete, your TOZO VIZO Z1 Series AR Glasses are ready to use with SteamVR. Enjoy your immersive VR experience!

VIZO Z1 / Z1 Pro Smart Glasses Firmware Update Guide

5.1.Download the VIZO Update Assistant App
First, please download and install the latest version of our Android app (v1.0.5) via the link below:

5.2.Preparations
Please use the original USB cable to connect your smart glasses to your phone/device.

Do not disconnect the glasses during the update, as this may cause device abnormalities.

The update takes approximately 1–3 minutes, and the glasses will restart automatically upon completion.

5.3.Open the Firmware Update Assistant
Launch the Smart Glasses Firmware Update Assistant app to enter the main interface.
At this stage, the screen will show:Please connect your glasses via USB
And the Check for Updates button will be greyed out (unavailable).

5.4.Connect the Glasses and Grant Permissions
Connect your smart glasses to your phone/device via the USB cable. After connecting, permission prompts will appear:

5.4.1.When the Smart Glasses Assistant USB access request pops up, tap OK to allow the app to access the USB device.

5.4.2.If the Wired Projection prompt appears, tap CANCEL to close it and avoid interfering with the update process.

5.5.Verify Connection Status
After granting permissions, the interface will confirm a successful connection:

Status indicator: Glasses Connected

The current firmware version will be displayed (e.g., Firmware: 1.05.1219)

The Check for Updates button will now be enabled.

5.6.Check for Firmware Updates
Tap the Check for Updates button. The app will automatically detect the latest firmware version.


The interface will show a comparison between the current version and the latest version (e.g., 1.05.1219 → 01.06.1219). Tap Update Now to proceed with the upgrade.

5.7.Confirm and Start the Update
After tapping Update Now, a confirmation window will appear:

Do not disconnect the glasses.

The update takes about 1–3 minutes. The glasses will restart automatically when finished.Tap Start Update to begin the upgrade process and wait for it to complete.

5.8.Update Completion
Once the update is finished, the interface will display a success message:

Status: Update Complete

Details: Firmware updated to 01.06.1219

Ready prompt: Glasses are ready

Your glasses have now automatically restarted. You may disconnect the USB cable and use the device normally.

5.9.Notes
If the connection is accidentally lost during the update, simply follow the steps again. This will not damage the device.

The first boot after the update may include a short initialization process, which is normal.

If updates are not detected after a long time, check the stability of the USB connection or try using an original cable.
